Buzz Blog: The Joy Post by Joy Carter

Lighten Up in October

October is such a beautiful month in Indiana. Nothing compares to the beauty of the yellows, oranges, reds and browns of autumn. This season is filled with delicious apples, apple cider, squash, pumpkins, hayrides, and bonfires. The sky is a beautiful shade of blue, and the warm sunshine is such a welcome addition to these cooler days. Farmers harvesting their crops, the rapid pace of changing leaves, and the even more rapid drop in temperature also bring the reminder that winter is just around the corner. I know, to some this is a sad reminder. To others, this is a SAD reminder.

Marcy Eckhoff Wagner has a rich life of experiences including business owner of Personnel Plus, Inc. where she spent over 25 years recruiting talent of top tier personnel for Fortune 500 leaders including Big 3 automotive companies and their suppliers. As she started taking her passion for home decorating more seriously, she and her husband started a company called K@Z Designs, Inc. where her husband invented and patented a product called, The HanggUp®.

The HanggUp® is a tool made to take the guess work out of picture hanging and has been sold to distributors and retailers throughout the country. In 2005, Marcy appeared on QVC’s Decade of Discoveries which featured The HanggUp®, as one of the products chosen from thousands reviewed by QVC to appear on a special weekly segment for ten weeks.

She is passionate about home design and enjoys incorporating “old and new” into her decorating schemes. She loves creating an element of surprise in her vignettes which she considers “feasts for the eyes”.

A curator for one of Plymouth's art galleries, Heartland Artists Gallery, Marcy has the opportunity to hang and place the artwork of the feature artist in a manner that is aesthetically pleasing to gallery visitors.

Marcy's up and coming posts as written in her Buzz Blog: Notes by Martha S. will include topics like decorating do's and don't's, thrifty ideas to design on a dime, before-and-after arrangements, and interviews with local designers and furniture store owners. Visit her posts regularly for tips and inspiration on how to decorate, arrange and upgrade the look of your home and office interiors.

Known by many as Mr. Cook, this foodie enjoys to cook almost as much as he loves to eat.

Born and raised in Plymouth, Indiana, a 1995 PHS graduate went off to earn a degree in chemistry and education at Purdue University, then moved to Chicago where he started a family and his love for dining out. His passion for ethnic foods originating from all over the world continues to grow. Some of his favorite past times include watching the Food Network, growing an organic salsa garden and making homemade meals for his family. Non-food related hobbies include biking, home remodeling, wood working, enjoying his family and pug and anything dealing with technology, especially ed-tech and Apple. His specialties include Italian sauces and salsas made from a variety of homegrown peppers but he also enjoys working the grill and smoker outdoors in the summertime. His two daughters, Savana, age 8 and Sophia, age 4 "usually" love "almost" everything he makes for dinner and his wife, Andrea, age "she-won't-tell" has a secret addiction to his garbage nachos. Ask his students from Culver Academies what they love most about their science teacher. They would say that aside from his interactive science lab experiments and his zany Chem-o-ween antics with Igor, they can't get enough chips to go with his spicy salsa and creamy guacamole.

Phil Cook will share his love for food and dining out throughout Plymouth with his up and coming Buzz Patrol blog posts titled "Foodie Love." Visit his posts regularly as he ventures around the city scoping out extraordinary menu items.

Join this Buzz Blogs group so that you are certain to not miss his "Foodie Love" posts!
